Fatty liver disease (also known as nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) or nonalcoholic fatty liver disease) is a type of liver disease that affects millions of Americans each year. These conditions can cause long lasting damage to the liver and can progress into liver failure. There are currently no FDA-approved medications for the treatment of fatty liver disease. This research study is evaluating the effectiveness of a new investigational treatment for fatty liver disease.
