Can I participate?

You may be able to participate in the study if you:

Are 18 years of age or older
Have a diagnosis of a nontuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) lung infection caused by Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC)
Other eligibility criteria apply.

If you qualify, you will be assigned to one of two studies.

In the study, you will be seen by MAC experts and may receive a study treatment being evaluated for potential treatment of MAC lung infections.

Why should I participate?

By enrolling in the Phase  3  trial, you may be given a study treatment being evaluated for:

Potential treatment of MAC lung infection
Improving signs and symptoms of MAC lung infection including:
Decreased respiratory discomfort  
Decreased fatigue

Your participation in the study could help increase the knowledge and understanding of MAC lung infections to potentially benefit the broader MAC community.

Will I receive compensation?

You will not receive any payment for taking part in the study. You may receive:

  • Study-related treatment at no cost  
  • Travel reimbursement for clinic visits
Has the study drug
been tested before?

Yes, there have been other clinical studies. This study treatment was previously tested in Phase 2 and Phase 3 trials. The study treatment was approved in patients for a different condition.  

What about my current medications?

Once you have given your consent, the study doctor will discuss this with you and determine if you are eligible and able to continue using your current medications.  

Do I need health insurance?

Health insurance is not required to participate in the study.

Can I leave the study at any time?

You are free to withdraw from the study at any time without giving a reason and without your medical care or rights being affected.

What is the importance of clinical trials for MAC?

Not all MAC patients respond to currently available treatments. Therefore, there is a need to develop and find potential new treatments for people with MAC lung disease through clinical studies.

How long will the study last?

Your participation may last between 42-75 weeks.
