This study is looking to recruit 100 Participants

The purpose of this research study is to conduct interviews with patients to understand their experiences with MAC and MAbs lung disease and to identify which signs, symptoms, and related impacts on daily life are the most important and relevant to MAC and MAbs patients. The information collected during this study will help develop and refine questionnaires to assess patient outcomes for MAC and MAbs in the context of upcoming clinical trials and other research studies.

Why should I participate?

You may not directly benefit medically from participating in this study.

However, possible benefits to others include facilitating the development and refinement of questionnaires to assess patient outcomes for MAC and MAbs. The results of these interviews could potentially assist in the design of upcoming clinical trials and other research studies.

If eligible for this qualitative interview, you will receive a $125 gift card upon completion of your interview.

What's involved?

If you wish to participate, you will be asked to complete a consent form, a medical information release form, and a short questionnaire to help determine your eligibility to participate.

If you agree to allow for release of your medical information, your physician will be contacted and asked to complete a questionnaire to assess your eligibility to participate.

If you meet the criteria for inclusion into the study, you will be scheduled for a separate interview session at your physician’s office or via phone, depending on your location.

During the interview session, you will be asked to discuss your experience with Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) lung disease or Mycobacterium abscessus (MAbs) lung disease.

It is estimated that approximately 90 minutes of your time may be required to complete the interview. Upon completion of the interview, you will be given a gift card of $125.

If you qualify and complete the interview process, you will be compensated with a $125 gift card after the interview. If you do not qualify for the study, as determined by your physician, no compensation will be awarded.

What is the goal of the research?

This study aims to learn more about the patient experience with symptoms and impacts of MAC or MAbs lung disease. With these interviews, this study hopes to develop better means of assessing treatment benefit in future clinical studies.

Do I need to sign an Informed Consent Document in order to participate?

Yes, you will be required to provide informed consent to participate in the study. This will administered electronically by providing your name and contact information and completing a series of screening questions. You will not be required to sign a separate document.

How long is the study?

The study will require approximately 90 minutes for the interview.
